CellRealm
A downloadable game for Windows
# CellRealm - Cell Evolution Simulator
CellRealm is an open-ended cellular civilization simulation game. Observe the evolution, expansion, and conflict of three different cell species on a customizable map.
# Basic Controls
Space — Start / Pause simulation
S — Step forward one frame (single-step mode)
R — Clear entire map
P — Toggle plague system
M — Toggle border mode (finite / infinite wrap-around)
F — Random spawn cells (preserves terrains)
# Brush Tools (F1-F6)
F1 — Red Cell
F2 — Blue Cell
F3 — Gray Cell
F4 — Rock terrain
F5 — River terrain
F6 — Eraser
Mouse Left Drag — Draw continuously
Mouse Right Click — Erase cells and terrain instantly
# Cell Rules
Red Cell: Aggressive faction. Survives better with other species nearby. Cannot enter rivers. Follows classic survival rules when alone.
Blue Cell: Stable and adaptive. Wide survival range. The only species that can live and reproduce inside rivers.
Gray Cell: Neutral nomad. Can slowly erode and break rock terrain to expand territory.
# Terrain Rules
Rock: Solid barrier. Blocks all cells. Only gray cells can gradually destroy rocks over time.
River: Water barrier. Only blue cells can survive inside rivers.
# Game Systems
Plague System: Dense cell clusters may trigger plague infection, killing crowded populations. Turn off for stable long-term structure simulation.
Border System:
- Finite Border: Cells disappear when reaching map edges.
- Infinite Wrap-around: Map connects edge-to-edge. Structures like gliders can travel infinitely.
# Quick Tutorials
1. Glider / Spaceship Simulation
Disable plague (P), enable infinite border (M), draw cellular glider shapes, then start simulation to observe infinite movement and evolution.
2. Civilization Conflict
Use rocks and rivers to create terrain barriers. Place different cell species in separated zones and watch territorial expansion and confrontation.
3. Rock Breaking Experiment
Enclose gray cells with rock walls. Gray cells will slowly break through rocks and expand outward.
# Notes
- First launch may take a few seconds due to single-file extraction.
- Antivirus software may falsely flag this program. The software is completely safe.
- Massive cell density may cause frame drop.
- If the program fails to launch on Windows 10, please install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2015–2022 (x64).
